Ancient: control, trades and rotations

Mid control and split attacks

Last checked 2026-09-25

Overview

An original practice plan for Ancient. These are tactical exercises, not tested grenade lineups.

Callouts to learn together

Community names to cross-check against your team and the current layout: Mid, Donut, Cave, A Main, B Ramp, Temple, Elbow.

Review the round

Ask what information your team actually had when it committed. Separate a missed shot from an unsupported entry, a late trade or a rotation without evidence.

Agree the opening

Pair the mid player with a flash and a trade partner. Keep pressure on one outer lane so the defence cannot focus every player on mid.

Set the defence

Agree who watches Donut and who collects information at Cave. Leave an anchor when a teammate checks a rotation.

Check the rotation

Losing mid can cut the path between sites. Re-clear your route instead of sprinting through a lane your team no longer owns.

Practise one useful action

In a private practice session, have a teammate hold one mid angle. Repeat a flash-and-trade entry, then swap roles.
